“I’m not convinced this is a five star resort. Arriving by car, the entrance to the hotel from the road is not easy to spot although this may not be easy for the hotel to rectify. We were booked in for 4 days but after day 2 the card keys were voided and I had to get Reception to fix them. Amazingly the same thing happened on day 4!”

“Had a few issues with reception, told had to wait for toilet roll as house keeping was between 12- 5pm!! It was 2.15pm when I rang down!!”

“We were returning customers to Low wood bay @ the winander club. We were slightly disappointed to see that spa access was no longer included in Winander rooms but it is a beautiful spa, so we paid the extra £140. We were disappointed to find out if you wanted to borrow some slippers for the spa, they were also chargeable now. And on check out I was very shocked to see they were also now charging £12 per day to park your car if you hadn’t booked directly with them. I don’t think I’ve ever stayed...

“The hotel is very well maintained, and staff were excellent. The breakfast was disappointing, as the only fruit available was an indifferent fruit salad. No prunes, grapefruit, peaches fresh strawberries etc. The only hotel I have stayed in where the cold buffet lacked fruit. The toaster (as is usual) either under toasts or almost burns the toast”

“Top quality hotel in a brilliant location, absolutely loved it here. We didn’t find a better bar to have a drink in or a better restaurant to eat in, all perfect… with a wonderful view over the lake too! The leisure facilities really helped too, the pool was a proper pool you could actually swim in! My only (very slight) observation might be that it did look a bit tired in places, with a bit of paint peeling off here and there.”

“Amazing, the photos do not do it justice, lovely cosy cottage a home from home and fully equipped. Great location, short walk to village incl pubs and chippy, also access to walks (which pass through livestick fields so dogs on leads). Grizedale forest was a short drive away with really good (long & short) walks, better for dogs off leads. ”

“Great welcome to the hotel from the gentleman on reception, very friendly and helpful, even understanding when we over slept our check out time. Room was very spacious and looked like we were in a new part of the hotel room 51, 51 had a great view over the garden where ducks and ducklings were swimming and playing. The garden to the rear of the property was beautifully kept, and the little bridge over the water and small village make of slate made the garden really standout. Service at the bar...
